NAO COUNTDOWN BEGINS

Quality on show in qualifying, with extra rewards

The glass court is being installed at the Westwood Club and the atmosphere and excitement is building as we look forward to one of the world's major tournaments getting under way after months of planning.
The world's leading players are flying into Richmond and enjoying the legendary Virginia hospitality ahead of the NAO qualifying competition, which starts on Saturday.
Plenty is at stake in these brutally competitive tournaments within a tournament, especially so this year.
Just take a look at the bottom half of the draw, where a large group of qualifiers have been pulled out of the hat together.
That means at least two qualifiers are guaranteed a spot in the second round, thereby guaranteeing extra prize money and ranking points.
The new PSA seeding system has thrown up some intriguing matches. Before the first re-draw, Amr Shabana had been paired with David Palmer (six World Open titles between them).
David now plays Wael El Hindi in a battle of the two highest-ranked US residents.
