RAZIK IN THE FAST LANE

Shahier Razik (Canada) beat Gilly Lane (USA)
12-10, 11-7, 11-7

Shahier Razik weathered the storm to win the opening game after Gilly Lane had fought back from 6-3 down to hold game ball at 10-8. But Razik asserted his physical and mental strength to close out the game 12-10.
Razik opened up a 4-1 lead in the second before lane drew level at 4-4. Razik then won six points in a row to reach 10-4. Lane mustered three points but could not stave off the inevitable and Razik took the game 11-7 to open up a two-game lead.
The third game followed a similar pattern with Razik leading 5-2 then 8-3. Lane battled furiously in some marathon rallies that must have impressed the tennis players watching avidly from the lounge windows overlooking the show court. But once again Razik stayed strong and closed out the match 11-7 in 59 minutes.
